Real Leadership Requires Belief and Action

Leadership isn’t rare because it’s hard.

Anyone can learn to lead.

It’s rare because of what’s required:

Belief + Action.

Belief without action is dreaming.
Nothing happens.

Action without belief is busywork.
You hustle, doubt, and sabotage.

Where Real Leadership Starts

Real leadership requires both. And it always starts with you:

  1. Believe it’s possible.

  2. Know where you are.

  3. Decide where you’re going.

  4. Commit fully to getting there.

What’s possible isn’t limited by:

  • What the experts say

  • What most people do

  • How much money you have

  • What you’ve done in the past

It’s limited only by your own mind.

Why Most People Run in Circles

When it comes to action, most people run in circles:

  • Hope and pray

  • Hail Mary passes

  • Pretend and avoid

  • Finger in the dyke

  • Attack and retreat

  • Hiring by guessing

All to avoid taking the required actions:

  1. Making bold decisions

  2. Communicating clearly

  3. Saying no to distractions

  4. Setting explicit agreements

  5. Doing what’s uncomfortable

Lead with a Straight Line, Not a Circle

Real leadership is drawing a straight line from where you are to where you’re going.

And taking the next required action. Every day.

It’s called “Straight-Line Leadership.” It’s also one of my favorite books by Dusan Djukich.

Instead of circling, choose to lead.
