The Mirror, The Teacher, and The Doorway

You’re about to send pricing on a significant deal. Your finger hovers over the send button. Something stops you. You tell yourself you need to review it one more time, maybe adjust the terms, perhaps add more justification. An hour later, you’re still sitting there, and the real issue isn’t the proposal.

We usually see business as a set of problems: market and team dynamics, revenue swings, deadlines and decisions. I tried all kinds of people, processes, and strategies to “fix” these problems. But the problems remained, or new ones appeared.

What was really happening? My business was reflecting my inner state: my fear of letting go, my beliefs about control, my need to prove myself. I wasn’t conscious of this. But until I addressed the source, it didn’t matter what I did on the outside. Variations of the problems resurfaced.

Three Levels, One Foundation

Three aspects of consciousness determine how you lead and grow. I think of them as the Mirror, the Teacher, and the Doorway.

The Mirror is awareness of your experience in real time: what you’re thinking, feeling, and how it’s showing up in your actions and results.

The Teacher is awareness of awareness itself. You step back and observe your patterns from the outside, with curiosity instead of judgment.

The Doorway is awareness of the universal field of energy. When you access it, synchronicities align, insights arrive, and solutions emerge that weren’t available through analysis alone.

You’ve experienced all three. But when you’re on autopilot, you’re unconscious. You’re not even in the game. You’ll react to symptoms instead of addressing causes. It’s to be expected. We’re not taught about the connection between consciousness and results in business.

The Mirror: What You’re Not Noticing
Here’s what’s easy to miss: you’re not always aware of what you’re thinking, feeling or doing. You’ve probably driven somewhere and not remembered the trip. That’s autopilot. We do the same with our thoughts and feelings. We go unconscious.

When you feel frantic, replies get sharp. Your team mirrors that tension back to you. It’s easy to think your business is making you feel frantic, but that’s not the real cause.

It’s common to feel overwhelmed. But what precedes that feeling is always some variation of the thought “there’s too much to do.” In reality, you have things to do, and the real work is deciding which of those things will create the results you want. The thought “there’s too much” blocks awareness of that truth and slows you down.

The best tool for awareness is something I call The Model. It’s a formula I teach founders how to use that looks simple but is profound: thoughts create feelings, feelings fuel actions, actions create results.

Whatever’s happening in your business today is related to your past state of consciousness. This means your state of consciousness right now will affect your future results. And that’s completely within your control.

That hesitation before sending the proposal? It wasn’t about the pricing. It was an unexamined belief about your worth, your value, or what you deserve. The moment you become aware of it, you can question it and replace it. But you can’t change what you don’t see.

Beyond the Mirror
The second level, the Teacher, is where you observe yourself objectively. You see the patterns of thinking, feeling, and doing, and you pause. You practice self-love and choose differently.

The third level, the Doorway, is your access to the field of universal energy. This is where flow happens. You sense how everything is interconnected, you see solutions inside the field that benefit everyone, and you align with them. You pull them to you in the present.

In this week’s video, I walk through the levels or consciousness in more detail and show you how to work with each one practically. It’s worth a watch.

Your business reflects your level of consciousness. Once you become aware of the way your inner and outer experience is connected, you can create any reality you choose. If you’re ready to evolve, schedule 20 minutes with me.
