The Most Important Habit for Founders

Most founders stay stuck because of one belief: It’s faster and easier to do it myself.

Don’t believe it. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

I remember doing the billing in my first business. Even after hitting $1M/year in revenue, I still did it. Why? Because I could. Because I didn’t trust anyone else. Because I didn’t want to fix mistakes.

This was a bad idea—not just because I despised it, but because it kept me from doing what I loved.

I thrived at creating vision, seeing new possibilities, and inspiring the team and clients.

Once I found someone who loved handling billing, I focused on productizing services so clients paid in advance. That 10X’d the business.

If someone else can do it, they should. Even if they’re not as good at it as you are. That frees you to stay in your zone of genius.

You have unique abilities and natural gifts. Things you love doing that put you in a flow state—where work feels effortless. You want to be there as much as possible. Why? Because 10 hours of regular work equals 1 hour in the zone of genius.

Which sounds better?

Step one: Delegate. Things won’t be done exactly your way. They may not even be done as well. Be willing to accept that trade-off.

Your reward? A life you love and the time and space to create 10X results.
