Spend most of your time in your zone of genius.
If you think labeling yourself a genius is boasting, let go of that idea. It has nothing to do with being better than other people and everything to do with living your life doing what you love and what you do best.
It’s not selfish, either.
The world is a much better place when everyone contributes their unique abilities instead of living lives of mediocrity or quiet desperation.
Each person on the planet has a zone of genius and it’s something important to discover.
Find yours and set an example for others to do the same.
The first step is to make a list of your answers to this question: “What would I really want to do if money and time were no object?”
For step two, check out the classic bestseller, “The Big Leap,” by Gay Hendricks. He buckets the things we do well into 3 zones:
Zone of Competence: You’re ok, but other people are better
Zone of Excellence: You’re great, but other people can do it too
Zone of Genius: You’re naturally gifted and uniquely capable
In your zone of genius, you’re much more likely to access flow state.
This is the magnificent state where ideas flow and activities are almost effortless because you’re relaxed, yet alert.
You feel like you’re connected to the field of pure potentiality.
Then the universe helps you by amplifying your natural genius with downloads and insights.
These may come as dreams or flashes of insight when you’re driving down the road, in the shower, or even while reading a book.
You might see a visual image, like Neil Bohr, who saw the structure of the atom in a dream. Or you could hear a melody in your mind, like Paul McCartney who said “Yesterday” came into his awareness suddenly one morning.
You want your mind to be relaxed and open so it acts like a conduit to the quantum field, which is like an infinite collection of all that is and all that can be.
And you’re not relaxed and open when you’re feeling stressed or resentful because you’re unhappy with your life and don’t like what you’re doing.
Rather than sculpt his statues, Michelangelo described the process as removing excess marble to reveal the masterpiece within.
Do this with your life! Remove the excess tasks that take up most of your time in your zones of competence and excellence.
Turn your life into a masterpiece. Live in your zone of genius.
