I learned this lesson while scaling and exiting my first business. Very few founders realize what frustration really means. RISK.
Everything that frustrates you is a risk. Address it now or you’ll regret it later.
Frustration #1: Not enough time.
The risks:
– Your business depends on you.
– You’re doing too many things.
– It can’t run without you.
Frustration #2: Too many mistakes
The risks:
– Your business is complicated.
– It isn’t systematized.
– It won’t scale.
Frustration #3. Cashflow is unpredictable.
The risks:
– You can’t plan for growth.
– Some A/R may never be paid.
– Downturns wipe out reserves.
Being frustrated won’t grow your business but thinking like an investor will.
Investors increase the value of their assets by reducing risks. Which is exactly what you want to do.
1. Delegate and reduce dependencies
2. Systematize and productize
3. Charge in advance to stabilize cashflow
Here’s the formula: Frustration = risk
When you feel frustrated ask, “What’s the risk?”
Write it down. Then treat the cause, not the symptoms.
Fix the risks. Protect your business (and your sanity).
